The Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF) is a non-profit organization that celebrates the power of music to entertain and educate. Founded in 1991, GMCSF has grown from a small group of singers to become one of the largest choruses in the country with over 200 members. The chorus has performed at many local venues including Hard Rock Stadium, The Fillmore Miami Beach, and The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. It has also traveled to international events such as The International Festival Of Choral Music in Barcelona, Spain, and the World Choir Games in Latvia. The GMCSF's mission is to foster acceptance through music and performance art by providing an inclusive platform for LGBTQ+ performers and musicians. They strive to create an environment where everyone can feel welcome and accepted regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Their repertoire consists of a variety of genres including Broadway show tunes, classical music, spirituals, folk songs, jazz standards, pop hits, and more. In addition to performing concerts throughout South Florida, GMCSF has released four albums: “Rise Up!” (2015), “Live From South Beach” (2016), “Dare To Dream” (2017), and “Out Loud” (2018). The chorus has earned numerous awards including Best Choral Performance at the 2017 International Festival Of Choral Music in Barcelona and Best In Show at the 2018 World Choir Games in Latvia. In 2023, GMCSF will embark on its first international tour with performances scheduled in Europe and Asia. This tour will be a celebration of diversity as it brings together people from all walks of life who share a common love for music. During this tour, they will perform some of their most beloved songs as well as new material composed specifically for this event.
