Established in 2002, the New Orleans Pelicans is a proud member of the National Basketball Association's Western Conference Southwest Division. As a result, the team had to temporarily move their operations for two seasons to Oklahoma City and rename themselves as the "New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets". 

After surviving this tumultuous period, they eventually returned home in 2007-2008 season. Following the 2012-2013 season, it was officially declared that the Hornets would be known as the New Orleans Pelicans from then on. Since their relocation from Charlotte, the New Orleans franchise has played 18 seasons and achieved an impressive overall record of 740–864 (.461). What's more, they have made it to the playoffs eight times in that period, emerging victorious twice in playoff series as well as capturing a division title. In 2002, the team relocated to Louisiana and became known as the New Orleans Hornets. However, in 2013 they decided to reach for greater heights by changing their name to the enigmatic 'New Orleans Pelicans'.
