About Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers are a professional ice hockey team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The team has been very successful recently, winning the Stanley Cup in 2020. The Panthers are owned by Vincent Viola and play their home games at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers were founded in 1993 as an expansion team and have made the playoffs 10 times in their history. The team has had many great players over the years including Roberto Luongo, Pavel Bure, and Jaromir Jagr.

The Panthers are one of the most popular teams in the NHL and have a large fan base in Florida. The Panthers played the Boston Bruins in the first round of the 1996 playoffs, winning in five games. The Panthers are a relatively young team but have quickly become one of the best teams in the NHL. The team is led by captain Derek MacKenzie and goaltender Roberto Luongo. The Panthers have a talented group of forwards including Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, and Vincent Trocheck.

The team also has a strong defensive core led by Aaron Ekblad and Keith Yandle. The 2003 NHL All-Star Weekend was held by the Panthers, resulting in a 6–5 victory for the Western Conference after the first overtime shootout in All-Star history. The West team overcame Thrashers winger Dany Heatley's four goals, who took home MVP honors in his first All Star appearance. The event was held at the Office Depot Center in Sunrise, Florida. In 2012, the Panthers made a splash by signing free agent defenseman Brian Campbell to a seven-year, $57 million contract.

Campbell was coming off of a successful season with the Chicago Blackhawks where he won the Stanley Cup. The Panthers hoped that Campbell could help them get to the playoffs for the first time since 2000. The Panthers finally returned to the playoffs in 2016 after a 12-year drought. The team was led by ageless wonder Jaromir Jagr, who was acquired at the trade deadline from the Florida Panthers. Jagr helped the Panthers to a first-round victory over the New York Islanders. The Panthers would ultimately lose to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round.

In their history, the Florida Panthers have only had two primary logos. The first logo was used from 1993 to 2002 and featured a snarling panther head within a shield. The second logo, which is the current logo, was introduced in 2003 and features a leaping panther within a circle. The Panthers have had three primary color schemes in their history. The first scheme, which was used from 1993 to 2002, consisted of red, black, and gold. The second scheme, which was used from 2003 to 2011, consisted of red, blue, silver, and white. The current color scheme, which has been used since 2012, consists of red, navy blue, gold, and white.
