The Breakers was a rock band from Denmark consisting of Toke Nisted, Anders Bruus and Jackie Larsen. The Breakers was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2002. What I Want, their debut album, was released by Sony Denmark in January 2004. Here For A Laugh, their second album, was first made available in Denmark in January 2006 through Good Guy's Recording Company. Funzalo Records then released it in the United States and Canada in May 2007. The Breakers DK were used for the US/Canada release since they needed to set themselves from from other bands with the same name. On his Underground Garage radio show in May 2007, Steven Van Zandt dubbed the band's first US single, "Dance the Go-Go," as the Coolest Song in the World. In June 2008, Steven Van Zandt's Wicked Cool Records and The Breakers agreed to a record deal. In 2009, the group played at the South by Southwest music festival. On June 27, 2010, just before Paul McCartney took the stage at Hard Rock Calling, the band finished the second stage. The Breakers' third album was recorded in May 2010 in New York's Stratosphere Sound. The album's producer and several of the songs' co-writers are Steven Van Zandt. On June 6, 2011, Bob Clearmountain will release the album he mixed. In 2012, The Breakers continued their collaboration with Steven van Zandt by making an appearance in episode six of the Norwegian television series Lilyhammer, which features Van Zandt and identifies him as an executive producer.
