Ballet Hispánico is an American dance company based in Manhattan, New York. Founded by the Puerto Rican-Mexican-American dancer and choreographer Tina Ramirez in 1970, it has become a leader in Hispanic culture and the performing arts. Ballet Hispánico celebrates the rich diversity of Latino cultures through its innovative performances, educational programs, and community engagement initiatives. The company is committed to creating a platform for Latinx voices to be heard and seen throughout the world. Since its inception, Ballet Hispánico has been recognized for its groundbreaking work with numerous awards including a National Medal of Arts from President Obama in 2016, two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Cultural Programming, and a MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.

Furthermore, Ballet Hispánico has performed on some of the most prestigious stages around the world such as Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Spain, and London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre. The company’s repertoire consists of works by renowned choreographers such as Annabelle Lopez Ochoa who was awarded her first Tony Award for Best Choreography for her work on Moulin Rouge! In addition to their repertoire of original works by award-winning choreographers, Ballet Hispánico also features guest artists from around the world such as Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta (who will be performing his acclaimed piece “Tocororo”); Mexican contemporary dance company Danza Contemporánea de México; Colombian folkloric group Grupo Corpo from Brazil; American tap dancer Derick K Grant; Argentine tango dancers Maria Nieves & Andres Amarilla; Spanish flamenco singer/dancer Pilar Rioja; Chilean folklore ensemble Los Lobos del Sur de Chile; Venezuelan folkloric dance troupe Los Rumberos del Caribe; Brazilian percussionist/composer Cyro Baptista & Beat The Donkey; Peruvian Afro-Peruvian jazz band Novalima among others.
