The thrilling drama and a stage hit, 2:22 A Ghost Story by Danny Robins made its sensational debut in the West End in 2021 and it was so successful that it nabbed a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play the following year. The story revolves around a couple and the enigmatic discussion that ensues when their first dinner party guests question an event occurring at 2:22am. As they welcome their first dinner guests - longtime friend Lauren and new partner Ben - the couple's debate over the subject of their house being haunted causes a bit of tension. On 10 June 2021, it was revealed that the eagerly awaited play would debut at London's Noël Coward Theatre in the West End from 3 August until 16 October. The show features strobe lighting, flashing lights, and thrilling sound effects. The audience will be mesmerized by the entrancing smoke effects and enveloped in a thick veil of darkness and will be at the edge-of-their-seat supernatural thriller. Award-winning writer Danny Robins, the creator of the hit BBC podcast, The Battersea Poltergeist podcast, has penned 2:22 and Matthew Dunster is helming its production.
Matthew Dunster flawlessly directed this production with Anna Fleischle providing a stunning design backdrop; Lily Allen as Jenny, Julia Chan as Lauren, Hadley Fraser as Sam, and Jake Wood playing Ben brought the story to life on stage. In 2022, the premier production was awarded an incredible three nominations for Laurence Olivier Nominations Awards, including Best New Play and Best Actress for Allen. It also received four WhatsOnStage Award nods, seen in the Broadway World, and took home the coveted prizes of Best New Play, Greatest Actress (Allen) plus Most Supportive Actor (Wood). To top off its success story, a recently introduced cast that will give star performances included Stephanie Beatriz as Lauren; James Buckley in the role of Ben; Elliot Cowan playing Sam; and Giovanna Fletcher starring as Jenny. Last October, the American debut of this record-breaking play was held in Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles.
It ran until December 4th, 2022, and featured Constance Wu as Jenny, Anna Camp as Lauren Adam Rothenberg as Sam, and Finn Wittrock as Ben – all within a reimagined Boston setting. On 29 March 2022, it was announced that Tom Felton had been cast as Sam, Mandip Gill as Jenny, Beatriz Romilly as Lauren, and Sam Swainsbury as Ben. Then on 11 August 2022 an extension of the engagement at the Criterion emerged with Laura Whitmore taking over for Jenny, Felix Scott replacing Tom Felton in the role of Sam, Matt Willis assuming his position to play Ben and Tamsin Carroll filling in for Lauren from 6 September 2023 until 8 January 2023. On 7 December 2022, the cast for its fourth West End engagement was revealed. Music icon Cheryl, alongside Hugo Chegwin, Louise Ford, and Scott Karim will be gracing the Lyric Theatre in London from 21 January 2023 until 23 April 2023.
