Charli XCX is a singer-songwriter from Cambridge, England. She began her career as a teenager, performing at open mic nights and uploading videos to MySpace. Her debut single released in 2008 was entitled "!Franchesckaar!" and was quickly followed by her first album, 14. The album was well received by critics, with Charli XCX being praised for her songwriting ability and innovative sound. Since then, she has released several albums including True Romance (2013), Sucker (2014), and the critically acclaimed Number 1 Angel mixtape (2017). These albums have seen her transition from synthpop to alternative R&B sounds, which she further explored on 2019's critically acclaimed double album Charli. It marked the end of a creative period for her, during which she collaborated with artists such as Lizzo, Kim Petras, Christine & The Queens, Troye Sivan, and more. In addition to this impressive body of work as an artist, Charli XCX also has experience producing music for other artists.
Her influence has been felt throughout pop culture - working directly with fashion labels ranging from ASOS to Chanel; writing hits for other artists ("I Love It" with Icona Pop); and modeling for various campaigns including those of Apple Music and London Fashion Week 2018. Having toured extensively across Europe in 2013 for True Romance and 2017 for Number 1 Angel; in 2019 after the release of Charli, Charli XCX embarked on her biggest tour to date aptly named 'The Charli Show', taking in dates across North America alongside shows at several high profile festivals such as Coachella in California and Primavera Sound Festival Spain. Most recently the star teamed up again with Troye Sivan on the new single ‘2099’ - marking five years since collaboration on joint hit ‘1999’ - both off his upcoming second record 'In A Dream'.
