About Black Violin

Black Violin is an American hip-hop duo from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The two members of the group, Kevin Sylvester and Wilner Baptiste are classically trained string instrumentalists who go by the stage names Kev Marcus and Wil B. They blend classical and hip-hop music, often playing their violins onstage while DJs and drummers provide beats over which they rap or sing. They have released two albums: Classically Trained (2008) and Stereotypes (2016). The duo met in high school orchestra class. They were both studying classical violin, but they also loved hip-hop music. They began to experiment with combining the two genres, and they quickly found an audience for their unique sound. Black Violin has performed with some of the biggest names in music, including Alicia Keys, Usher, and the Wu-Tang Clan. They have also been featured on television shows like "The Tonight Show" and "Dancing with the Stars".

The group uses its music to inspire people of all ages to follow their dreams, no matter what anyone else says. They want to show the world that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Black Violin is proof that music can truly change the world. In 2016, Black Violin composed music for FOX’s hit TV series "Pitch" and the group has made appearances on HBO’s Ballers, The Tonight Show, The Wendy Williams Show, and Ellen. Some of their notable creative collaborations include Kanye West, Wu-Tang Clan, Wyclef Jean, Lil Wayne, and Alicia Keys. The group's performances are a unique mix of classical and hip-hop music, which often sees them playing their violins onstage while DJs and drummers provide beats over which they rap or sing.

They have released two albums: Classically Trained (2008) and Stereotypes (2016). Black Violin recently put out their song "Dreamer," and they followed it up with a video. Black Violin's most recent album, "Stereotypes", debuted at the top 1 on the Billboard Classical Crossover Chart and top 4 on the Billboard R&B Chart. Black Violin will carry out over 40 high-energy shows as part of their 2022 Impossible Tour this January, which stretches into the summer. The Classical Boom Tour in 2018 was very successful, with over 90 concerts including two sold-out performances at Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center, before beginning preparations for the upcoming Impossible Tour. No wonder they've got great fan reviews!
