Christopher Alvin Stapleton was born on April 15, 1978, in Lexington, Kentucky. He later moved to Staffordsville as a child and then attended Vanderbilt University for engineering but decided to drop out and move to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his career in music instead. In Nashville, he signed a contract with Sea Gayle Music which would allow him to write and publish his own songs. Stapleton started by writing and producing hit songs for other popular country music artists, such as Adele, George Strait, and Dierks Bentley. His first album, “Traveller” was released in 2015 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart; it went on to become a double Platinum record. Following the success of his first album, he released two more albums in 2017 and 2018 respectively. 

Stapleton has won several awards over the years, including five Grammy Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, six Country Music Association Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and one Americana Music Honors & Award. In 2020 Stapleton released his fourth studio album “Starting Over”. It debuted at number one on both the US Billboard 200 chart and the US Top Country Albums Chart. The album was praised by critics with Rolling Stone calling it “a stunningly accomplished piece of work that succeeds on all levels”. Five of his songs have topped the charts for George Strait, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, and Josh Turner. In addition, several of his tunes have been used in major motion picture soundtracks.
