The Oklahoma City Thunder is an American professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City. The Thunder competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Western Conference Northwest Division. The team plays its home games at Chesapeake Energy Arena and Downtown Oklahoma City. The Thunder were previously known as the Seattle SuperSonics, an American professional basketball team that was based in Seattle, Washington. The SuperSonics played their home games at the KeyArena, from 1967 to 2008. In total, the Thunder have eleven division titles, four conference titles, and one NBA Championship that came in 1979 when the team was based in Seattle. In 2008, the SuperSonics were relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. 

The team's name was changed to reflect the move, and the team has since made two NBA Finals appearances (in 2012 and 2014). The Thunder are owned by Professional Basketball Club LLC, which is controlled by Oklahoma City-based businessman Clay Bennett. The team's head coach is Billy Donovan, and the general manager is Sam Presti. The Thunder have several players who have been named to NBA All-Star teams, including Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony. Westbrook has been named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice (in 2017 and 2018), while Durant has won the NBA Finals MVP award in 2012.
