About Kid Cudi

Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, known by his stage name Kid Cudi, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, multi-platinum recording artist, producer, and actor. He was born on January 30, 1984, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and grew up in Solon. He is the eldest of four children, with two sisters, Domingo and Crystal, and a brother, Maestro Harrell. His first musical experience was singing in the choir at his local church. When he was eleven years old, he started playing the piano and then the drums in high school. His interest in hip-hop was sparked by his cousin, who introduced him to the genre. In 2006, He moved to Brooklyn to pursue a career in music. He first gained major attention after the release of his debut single "Day 'n' Nite", which peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, was released in 2009. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. 

In 2008, his debut single "Day 'n' Nite", led him to prominence, reaching the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His first full-length project, a debut mixtape titled A Kid Named Cudi (2008), caught the attention of American rapper-producer Kanye West, who subsequently signed Cudi to his GOOD Music label imprint in late 2008. In 2010, he released Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, which debuted at number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number two on the Billboard 200. In April 2013, he released his third album Indicud, which became his highest-charting album on multiple charts. In February 2014, Cudi unexpectedly released Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, a space-themed album and his first project since signing with Republic Records in October 2013. In 2015, he was featured as a guest on the Skylar Grey song "Stop Trying to Be God". 

In 2016, he surprisingly released his rock band's debut album WZRD. His fourth studio album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' was released on December 16, 2016, to positive reviews. In the same year, he played the role of "Dennis" in the critically acclaimed film, Swiss Army Man. His performance was praised by many critics, with Variety writing that he "delivered his best work yet". In 2017, he formed the alternative hip-hop group Kids See Ghosts, alongside frequent collaborator and fellow rapper Kid Cudi. He has sold 5.2 million records in the United States as of June 2017. In October 2018, Cudi revealed that he was four albums into his next project. Outside of his music career, he has appeared in numerous films and television series, including Need for Speed (2014), Entourage (2015), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2016), and Billions (2017).
