Ohio State University has a long and storied history of theater, which dates back to the tragic event that occurred in 2006. That year, two students were murdered in an act of violence by China Arnold, who was later convicted of the murders. In response to this tragedy, a reward was offered for information about the murders and many people followed the story closely. Since then, Ohio State has made numerous achievements in protecting its students from harm and promoting a culture of safety and security on campus. Several initiatives have been implemented to meet these goals including student support services, increased police presence on campus, faculty and staff training on sexual misconduct prevention and response, increased security cameras across campuses, and more. Since its founding in 2006, The Ohio State Murders Theatre has produced over sixty plays as well as four full-length musicals - all met with high praise from critics and audiences alike. Their productions cover both classic literature such as Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, as well as topical modern works like Play with Fire –a play about school shootings–and Till Murder, Do Us Part –an exploration into domestic violence against women-.

They have won several awards such as Best Production at the Midwest’s International Youth Theatre Festival or Best Show at Indiana Playwright’sFest 2017.
