His career began in 1975 when he directed the London production of “Noises Off” at the National Theatre, which earned him an Olivier Award for Best Comedy. From there, he moved on to directing numerous feature films including “My Cousin Vinny” (1992), “The Whole Nine Yards” (2000), and “The Ladykillers” (2004). In addition to his feature film work, Jonathan Lynn also directed several television series such as “Yes Minister” (1980-1984) and “Yes Prime Minister” (1986-1988). Throughout his career, Jonathan Lynn has received many awards and accolades for his work. He was nominated for two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series for his work on Jonathan Lynn Yes Minister/Prime Minister. He also won a BAFTA Award for Best Film Screenplay for My Cousin Vinny in 1993. In addition to these awards, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directors Guild of Great Britain in 2018. In 2021, Jonathan Lynn returned to the stage with a new production of "Noises Off" at the Old Vic Theatre in London. This production featured an all-star cast including Simon Russell Beale, Meera Syal, Celia Imrie, Lloyd Owen, and Rufus Hound. The show met with rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Jonathan Lynn's next project is set to be released in 2023 - a musical adaptation of "My Cousin Vinny."
