Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, who are signed to Fearless Records. The group formed in 2002 and released its first EP in 2004. The band's musical style has been described as metalcore, horror punk, post-hardcore, and melodic metalcore. They have drawn influence from such bands as Metallica, Misfits, Slayer, and Iron Maiden. The band's name comes from the novel and film of the same name, in which a fictional military group creates a weapon called "Ice-9" that freezes all water it comes into contact with. The band toured extensively in support of the album, including appearances at the Warped Tour and Ozzfest.
In 2010, the band released their third album, Every Trick in the Book. The album was produced by Jonathan Davis of Korn, and it featured a more industrial sound than the band's previous albums.
