The Pretty Reckless is an American rock band that formed in 2009 and based out of New York City. The band consists of Taylor Momsen (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Ben Phillips (lead guitar, backing vocals), Mark Damon (bass) and Jamie Perkins (drums). The group signed with Interscope Records in 2010.
Their debut album, Light Me Up, was released on August 30, 2010. The record produced four singles, "Miss Nothing", "Make Me Wanna Die", "Just Tonight" and "My Medicine". The band's second studio album, Going to Hell, was released on March 18, 2014. It sold 34,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. The album's lead single, "Heaven Knows", peaked at number one on the Mainstream Rock chart. The Pretty Reckless has also received significant airplay with their cover of "Zombie" by The Cranberries, which was included on the Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2 compilation album.
Momsen announced on Instagram in November 2019 that Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden was collaborating with the group on their upcoming fourth studio album. Momsen announced the completion of the album and its title, Death by Rock and Roll, in February 2020. The CD was made available on February 12, 2021. The band secured a deal with Fearless Records in May 2020. The album's title track, the lead single, was made available on May 15, 2020.
In March and April 2022, the band set out on the Death by Rock and Roll Tour in promotion of the album. Halestorm joined them for the remainder of the tour, which started in June 2022. Ireland and the UK will be visited by the tour in October and November 2022. The band revealed in August 2022 that Other Worlds, a compilation album with new covers and different takes on previously released songs, would be released on November 4 of that same year. Prior to the publication of the compilation, a remix of "Got So High" from Death by Rock and Roll was made available as a single.
