The TCU Horned Frogs Basketball program has been an integral part of the university since 1908 when the first squad was formed. Throughout its history, the basketball team has developed strong rivalries with Big 12 opponents and captured numerous awards. The Horned Frogs currently play their home games at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, and are led by head coach Jamie Dixon. Since joining the Big 12 Conference in 2012, the Bell Tower Trophy has become a much-coveted trophy between TCU and their rival Baylor Bears, with the winner earning bragging rights for that season. With a total of seven NCAA Tournament appearances in school history and several awards for individual players such as Most Outstanding Player Award winner Brent Scott (1997), All-America selection Kenneth Cooper (2009), and several others, TCU Horned Frogs Basketball is an institution to be reckoned with.
Over the years, TCU has produced some impressive players such as George McQuarn (1964-1967), Ronnie Shavlik (1954-57), Kyan Anderson (2012-15), and Desmond Bane (2016-2020). Today’s roster also features star players like Delon Wright Jr., Kouat Noi, RJ Nembhard, and Kevin Samuel — all four proved themselves to be valuable assets to the team during their respective seasons at TCU. In addition to a successful on-court record; under Coach Dixon's guidance, TCU basketball has achieved many off-court successes. The team's community service efforts have been recognized twice by winning the men's basketball National Association of Basketball Coaches Champions of Character Team Award in 2017 & 2018 — making it one of three universities to win multiple times since its inception in 2015.
