About Razorbacks Basketball

The Arkansas Razorbacks basketball program has been a fixture in the college basketball world for over a century. Throughout their history, the Razorbacks have consistently been one of the top collegiate programs in the country, featuring some of the greatest players and coaches in college basketball history. The University of Arkansas began competing in intercollegiate basketball during the 1909-10 season when they joined with future Southwest Conference rivals to form the Intercollegiate Athletics Association of the Southwest (IAA). In 1924, the Razorbacks won their first conference title and by 1935 had a perfect 18-0 record in conference play. The home court for the Razorbacks has undergone many changes throughout its history. Originally playing at Robinson Gymnasium, they moved onto Barnhill Arena in 1955 and later moved again to Bud Walton Arena in 1993 which is still their current home.

Rivalries have played an important role throughout Arkansas’s storied history. During their time as members of the Southwest Conference, they shared a fierce rivalry with Texas Longhorns due to being two of the more successful programs within conference play. Later on, during their tenure as members of the Southeastern “SEC” conference, rivalries with fellow SEC members such as LSU Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and Auburn Tigers would become major factors in how successful years were for Arkansas hoops. Over nearly 110 seasons at Arkansas, some of the college basketball's best players have graced Bud Walton Arena and other various courts representing Razorback Nation.

Names like Sidney Moncrief, Corliss Williamson, and Corliss Monden are synonymous with winning having helped guide teams to numerous NCAA tournament appearances including two Final Fours under then Head Coach Eddie Sutton during 1978-84 as well as seven Sweet Sixteens throughout this period. The modern era dating back to 2000 has been no different than past periods where success concerning both individual players and overall team standings was concerned; producing three National Players Of The Year winners (Danielle Gant - 2001; Ronnie Brewer - 2006 & Bobby Portis 2013) while also capturing five NCAA Tournament appearances under head coach Mike Anderson 2015-2019 along with 27 wins against AP Top 25 teams since 2012 alone.
