  • About Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins (MN Twins) are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded as one of the American League’s eight charter franchises in 1901, the Twins have played at Target Field since 2010. The Twins are intertwined with their original rival, the Chicago White Sox, from the first decade of their existence to the present day. The rivalry has spanned numerous highlights during interleague play and World Series appearances for both teams. Over their 118-year history, the Minnesota Twins baseball has remained a consistent contender in MLB's AL Central division. They have won seven pennants and three World Championships (1987, 1991, & 2019). The current head coach is Rocco Baldelli who was hired in 2018 and has led them to two consecutive postseason berths. During his tenure as head coach, Baldelli has also earned several awards including Manager of the Year (2019), Sporting News AL Manager of the Year (2019), and Baseball America MLB Manager of the Year (2019). Perhaps no player conjures up more nostalgia than Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew who spent 14 seasons playing with the Twins from 1961–1974 amassing 573 home runs over his 20-year career — all with Minnesota or Washington teams. Other notable players include Luis Arroyo, who was named MVP by Sporting News in 1961; Rod Carew, who won seven batting titles; Kent Hrbek; Kirby Puckett; and Joe Mauer who retired in 2018 after spending 15 years with the Twins — records for longevity with one team for each player. Today’s roster includes some big names like Max Kepler and Nelson Cruz who serves as DH/outfielder and is currently considered one of Major League Baseball’s most powerful sluggers having scored a total of 70 home runs over his last two seasons with Minnesota so far. The Minnesota Twins organization continues to foster a culture that rewards its fans for their loyalty as well as building relationships within its organization between players coaches and management. It is no wonder that this Minnesota Twins game continues to be successful year after year despite being established over a century ago! With Ryan Yarbrough delivering seven impressive innings, the Kansas City Royals achieved a remarkable 2-1 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins on a sunny Sunday afternoon. This triumph marked their first series sweep of the season, showcasing their prowess and determination on the field. Yarbrough (4-5) showcased his mastery with a formidable curveball, delivering an efficient and precise performance on the mound. He efficiently completed seven innings with just 78 pitches, surrendering a single run on seven hits. His performance included five strikeouts and zero walks, showcasing his exceptional command and control on the mound. Yarbrough delivered his longest performance in over two years. The Royals took the lead in the second inning when Freddy Fermin, with two outs, smashed Kenta Maeda's splitter 420 feet to left center, extending his hitting streak to six games.
