What would hockey be without its fights? While they may not be the prettiest thing to watch, hockey brawls always manage to get the fans going. Here are some of the best hockey fights of all time. Who knows, maybe one of these scraps will make you want to dust off your old skates and head to the rink!

1. Tie Domi vs. Bob Probert
This heavyweight bout took place back in 1992 when Tie Domi of the New York Rangers took on Bob Probert of the Detroit Red Wings. The two had been going at it all game, exchanging punches and generally just trying to get under each other’s skin. Eventually, they dropped the gloves and went at it in what would become one of the most famous hockey fights of all time.

2. Todd Bertuzzi vs. Steve Moore
This fight is infamous for all the wrong reasons. In 2004, Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks blindsided Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche with a punch to the back of the head. Moore ended up with a broken neck and Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the season, as well as the playoffs. He eventually pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to probation and community service.

3. Chris Simon vs. Ryan Hollweg
This fight took place during a 2007 game between the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers. Chris Simon of the Islanders was incensed after being hit by Ryan Hollweg of the Rangers, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. He swung his stick at Hollweg’s head, knocking him to the ice. Simon was promptly ejected from the game and suspended for the rest of the season.

4. Gordie Dwyer vs. Bob Probert
Gordie Dwyer of the Tampa Bay Lightning took on Bob Probert of the Chicago Blackhawks in this 2002 fight. The two went at it for nearly a minute, exchanging punches and struggling to gain an advantage. In the end, it was Probert who came out on top, but both men had to be helped off the ice.

5. Marty McSorley vs. Donald Brashear
In 2000, Marty McSorley of the Boston Bruins was given a match penalty for hitting Donald Brashear of the Vancouver Canucks with his stick. McSorley swung his stick at Brashear’s head, knocking him unconscious. He was immediately suspended and ended up being charged with assault with a weapon. He was found guilty and given 18 months of probation.
