"The King and I"
Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King and I" is a classic film-to-musical adaptation that has been entertaining audiences for decades. The story, set in 1860s Siam, follows the relationship between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British governess who comes to teach his children. The film, which was released in 1956, starred Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr and was nominated for nine Academy Awards.

"The Wiz"
"The Wiz" is a musical adaptation of L. Frank Baum's classic book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." The story follows Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas who is transported to the Land of Oz by a tornado. There, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, who help her on her journey to find the Wizard of Oz. "The Sound of Music" is a musical adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein film of the same name. The story follows Maria von Trapp, a young woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become the governess for the seven children of the widowed Captain von Trapp. The musical opened on Broadway in 1959 and starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. It was adapted into a film in 1965, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.

"West Side Story"
"West Side Story" is a musical adaptation of the 1957 film of the same name. The story is set in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the 1950s and follows the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs. The musical opened on Broadway in 1957 and starred Carol Lawrence and Chita Rivera. It was adapted into a film in 1961, starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer.

"Fiddler on the Roof"
"Fiddler on the Roof" is a musical adaptation of the 1964 film of the same name. The story is set in Tsarist Russia in the early 20th century and follows the life of Tevye, a Jewish milkman, and his family. The musical opened on Broadway in 1964 and starred Zero Mostel and Maria Karnilova. It was adapted into a film in 1971, starring Topol and Norma Crane.

"The Phantom of the Opera"
"The Phantom of the Opera" is a musical adaptation of the Gaston Leroux novel of the same name. The story is set in 19th-century Paris and follows the phantom, a masked man who lives in the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House. The musical opened on Broadway in 1988 and starred Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. It was adapted into a film in 2004, starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum.
