Stereophonics is a Welsh rock band formed in 1992. The group is made up of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and keyboardist Kelly Jones, bassist, harmonica player, and backup vocalist Richard Jones, rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Adam Zindani, drummer and percussionist Jamie Morrison, and touring keyboardist Tony Kirkham. The band, which has been dubbed "classic UK rock with whiskey vocals," has been characterized as having a sound that encompasses alternative rock and "British traditional rock." The band released their debut album, Word Gets Around, on August 25, 1997. The album was a huge success, reaching number six on the UK charts. It featured the singles "A Thousand Trees", "More Life in a Tramps Vest", and "Local Boy in the Photograph." The album has already been certified three times platinum in the UK. Stereophonics' second album, Performance, and Cocktails was released on March 8, 1999. Their sophomore project was a commercial success and also topped the UK Albums and Scottish Albums charts. It featured the singles "Pick a Part That's New", "The Bartender and the Thief", and "Just Looking." The band has released ten more studio albums: Just Enough Education to Perform in 2001, You Gotta Go There to Come Back in 2003, Language. Sex. Violence. Other? in 2005, Pull the Pin in 2007, Keep Calm and Carry On in 2009, Graffiti on the Train in 2013, Keep the Village Alive in 2015, Scream Above the Sounds in 2017, Kind in 2019, and Oochya! in 2022. The Stereophonics band has toured around the world performing at several sold-out events. They have also received more than a handful of nominations and have won a BT Digital Music Award in 2005, a BRIT Award in 1998, two Global Awards in 2020, and three Kerrang! Awards between 1999 and 2000, a Meteor Music Award in 2002, two Silver Clef Awards in 2009 and 2018, and many more. The group has also released a live album, a compilation album, two box sets, and four extended plays. They have also worked with the likes of Tom Jones, Hip Parade, and many more.
