In May 2023, the Manassas Ballet Theatre performed "Swan Lake," the well-known opera by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, on the stage of the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The ballet portrays the love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess cursed by an evil sorcerer to become a swan. It was influenced by Russian and German folk stories. When he becomes 21 years old, Siegfried has to pick a spouse. The jester suggests he go hunting to divert him from this work, and while he is out there, he meets the stunning swan queen Odette. This story of love, deception, and betrayal will be brought to life on stage at the Hylton Performing Arts Center by the cast of international dancers from Manassas Ballet Theatre.
