About Phoenix Mercury

The Phoenix Mercury is an American professional basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona, playing in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Mercury is the three-time WNBA champion and is one of the eight original teams of the league. The Mercury was established in 1997 as an expansion team along with the Orlando Miracle and the Minnesota Lynx. The team is owned by Robert Sarver, who also owns the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Phoenix Suns. The team's head coach is Sandy Brondello, and its assistant coach is Russ Pennell.
