On December 31, 2008, the Americans made history at their New Year's Eve matchup against the Spokane Chiefs as they had a record-breaking 6,042 attendees in attendance for that game inside the Toyota Center. On March 13, 2010, the Americans made history when they attracted a crowd of 6,053 to their game against Spokane. This attendance figure broke all previous records and firmly established the team as one of the most successful in American sports. After a historic run, the Americans tasted victory by winning the Western Conference championship for the first time ever during the 2010 playoffs.
