Murray State Women's Basketball provides a rich tradition and history of excellence, both in the classroom and on the court. The Lady Racers are proud to have accomplished an impressive record since their debut season in 1977-78. As one of 14 charter members of the Ohio Valley Conference, Murray State has competed against rival universities such as Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, Morehead State, and Western Kentucky. Home games are held at the CFSB Center, providing fans with a vibrant game day atmosphere known for its passionate crowd support. Notable achievements include winning 18 Ohio Valley Conference titles, going undefeated in conference play three times (1985-86, 1989-90, and 1995-96), numerous NCAA tournament appearances, and producing several All-Americans.
Some of the greatest Lady Racer players to ever step foot on the court include Heather Butler (2012-16), who is second all-time in program history in points scored (2,449) and first all-time in 3’s made (339). Other standouts include Olivia Cunningham (2009 -12) who holds records for career blocks with 136, Angel Foster (1997 - 2001) who still stands as third all-time in scoring with 1,825 points and is first all-time for career double-doubles with 52 as well Tearra Banks (1994 - 98 ) who holds records for career steals at 209. These remarkable women athletes have proven that hard work can indeed pay off. They continue to inspire generations of young athletes not only on the basketball court but also beyond by exhibiting unique excellence both academically and athletically which will forever keep their legacy alive at Murray State University and throughout NCAA Division I Women's Basketball.
