Representing the city of Saskatoon, Canada is the prestigious professional box lacrosse team - The Saskatchewan Rush. What was once the Edmonton Rush is now part of the NLL's Western Division. The Saskatchewan Rush team plays their home games on Co-op Field at SaskTel Centre. Since their relocation to Saskatchewan in 2016, the Rush have proudly claimed victory over the Champion's Cup twice - once that same year and a second time in 2018. In 2006, the Edmonton Rush made their inaugural entrance into the National Lacrosse League (NLL), and since then have twice advanced to compete in the NLL Championship. Following their loss in 2012, they rallied and took home the Champion's Cup in 2015.
Despite their best efforts, the Rush was unable to draw in crowds and faced fierce competition from the Edmonton Oil Kings junior hockey team. Additionally, they had limited access to promote their branding within Rexall Place due to restrictions imposed by the Oilers organization. When Bruce Urban, owner of the NLL team, couldn't come to an agreement with the City of Edmonton for playing at its replacement arena Rogers Place, he decided to relocate his squad for the 2016 season. In 2017, the team proudly signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with Saskatoon Co-op that renamed their stadium to Co-op Field at SaskTel Centre during Rush games. On May 10th, 2021 it was announced that the team had been acquired by Mike Priestner, owner of Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League.
