Representing Denver, Colorado with pride, the Colorado Mammoth is an exhilarating box lacrosse team that competes in the National Lacrosse League. The Mammoth franchise has been around since 1987 when they were known as the Baltimore Thunder. As time passed, their name changed to Pittsburgh CrosseFire in 2000 and then Washington Power from 2001 until 2002. Since 2003, the Mammoth have proudly called Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado their home. Stan Kroenke proudly owns the Los Angeles Rams, as well as three other impressive Colorado-based teams - the Avalanche, Nuggets, and MLS's Rapids. From 2004 to 2008, the Mammoth dominated the competition and led the league in attendance with the help of Gary Gait. Nowadays, we recognize them simply as the Mammoth. In 2006, the NLL made history by proudly registering more than one million fans in attendance for the first time since its inception 20 years prior aside from those who watch at-home games. The Mammoth clinched a playoff spot as the second-ranked team in the Western Division. In the first round of play, Colorado's Mammoth outdid Calgary's team with an 18–17 win in overtime! During 2008, Mammoth had a remarkable average attendance per game that trumped the other teams at Pepsi Center: Colorado Avalanche (NHL) and Denver Nuggets (NBA).
The Mammoth vanquished their opponents, the Buffalo Bandits with a victorious 2-1 score in the National Lacrosse League Cup. Topping off this incredible win was Dillon Ward being named Finals MVP! From 2014 to 2018, Colorado was the lone non-Canadian team in the Western Division until San Diego Seals joined and broke up this streak. Since their relocation to Colorado, the team has made it to the playoffs every season other than one. With just seconds left in overtime, Brian Langtry secured the win with a heroic goal. For the second round of the Western Division finals, our team convened at Pepsi Center to battle against Arizona Sting. In an epic finishing move, rookie Dan Carey secured the Mammoth's victory with a 13–12 score against the Sting. The culminating game of the season was held in Buffalo at HSBC Arena, with a matchup between the Bandits who were reigning champions and boasted the league's top record as well as their star goaltender Steve Dietrich - also known to be last year’s MVP. The Mammoth earned a resounding victory in the Champion's Cup with an impressive score of 16–9, and Gavin Prout was rightly honored as Game MVP. The Mammoth was pleased to welcome our one-millionth fan in grand style!
