The Albany FireWolves is an elite box lacrosse team representing the heart of New York, located in bustling downtown Albany. As part of the East Division of the National Lacrosse League, they began their inaugural season in 2021-22 at MVP Arena. A team former National Lacrosse League (NLL) athlete Oliver Marti is the proud owner of this organization. The team changed their home base from Uncasville, Connecticut to somewhere else; they used to be known as the New England Black Wolves. The Black Wolves are a new iteration of the Philadelphia Wings, having moved their franchise to another location. The Albany Attack made history in the National Lacrosse League by gracing the city with their presence from 2000-2003.
Unfortunately, they had to move and rename themselves as the San Jose Stealth; however, not all hope is lost! This franchise will be a follow up act of sorts to this beloved team that came before them. After an engaging online naming contest, the FireWolves were ceremoniously unveiled as the team's official name on April 14th, 2021. After debating a myriad of titles, the ultimate three contenders were Attack, FireWolves, and Black Arrows. After listening to the legal representatives of Stony Brook University, who expressed their worries regarding the likeness between our team's original logo and that of Stony Brook Seawolves', we decided it was best to modify our design.
