About Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball

The Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball team is a storied program with a long and successful history. Founded in 1885, the Commodores have been playing baseball for over 135 years and are one of the most successful teams in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team plays its home games at Hawkins Field on the Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout their history, the Commodores have developed several rivalries with other teams in their conference, including Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. The Commodores have won numerous awards throughout their history including two SEC championships and 19 NCAA tournament appearances. They also boast an impressive list of former players who went on to play professionally in Major League Baseball (MLB), such as David Price, Pedro Alvarez, and Sonny Gray. Currently leading the program is head coach Tim Corbin who took over in 2003 after serving as an assistant coach at Clemson University. Under Corbin’s guidance, the Commodores have achieved great success with seven trips to the College World Series and eight SEC regular season titles.

The Commodores are led by some of college baseball's top players such as outfielder JJ Bleday who was named First Team All-American last season after hitting .347 with 26 home runs; catcher Philip Clarke who had a .927 fielding percentage last year; pitcher Kumar Rocker who had a 1.86 ERA last season; infielder Ethan Paul who had a .306 batting average last season; and pitcher Mason Hickman who earned Freshman All-American honors last year after posting a 7-2 record with a 3.47 ERA. As they look ahead to the 2023 season, Vanderbilt Baseball will be looking to continue its success from recent years while also building on its rich history of excellence. With a talented roster full of experienced veterans and promising newcomers alike, there is no doubt that this team will be competitive once again this year as they strive to bring another championship back to Nashville. The Commodores Baseball program is an integral part of the Vanderbilt University community. In addition to providing entertainment and excitement for fans throughout Nashville, it also plays a vital role in promoting values like hard work and determination to young people throughout the Middle Tennessee area. With its storied past and promising future, Vanderbilt Baseball continues to inspire fans both near and far while striving for excellence both on and off the field every day!
