The Miami Hurricanes Baseball team has a long and proud history of success. Founded in 1902, the Hurricanes have been playing baseball for over a century and have become one of the most successful programs in the country. The team plays its home games at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, located on the University of Miami campus. Over the years, the Hurricanes have developed several rivalries with other teams in their conference, including Florida State, Clemson, and Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes have won numerous awards throughout their history, including four College World Series championships and 16 NCAA Regional titles. The team also boasts an impressive list of former players who went on to play professionally in Major League Baseball (MLB), including Ryan Braun, Yonder Alonso, and Yasmani Grandal. Currently leading the program is head coach Gino DiMare who took over in 2019 after Jim Morris stepped down after 23 successful years as head coach.
DiMare has already made his mark on the program by leading them to a winning record in his first season as head coach and earning Coach of the Year honors from both Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The Hurricanes are led by some of college baseball's top players such as shortstop Freddy Zamora who was named First Team All-ACC last season after hitting .320 with 11 home runs; outfielder Chris McMahon who had seven home runs last season; catcher Adrian Del Castillo who led all hitters with a .328 batting average; pitcher Brian Van Belle who had an impressive 2.41 ERA last season; and closer Carson Palmquist who had nine saves last season. As they look ahead to the 2023 season, Miami Hurricanes Baseball will be looking to continue their success from recent years while also building on their rich history of excellence.
