The Georgia Bulldogs Baseball team is one of the most successful college baseball programs in the country. Founded in 1890, the Bulldogs have a long and storied history that includes numerous conference championships, NCAA tournament appearances, and even a College World Series title. The team plays its home games at Foley Field on the University of Georgia campus and has developed several rivalries with other teams in the SEC such as Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee. Over the years, the Bulldogs have also won numerous awards including two SEC regular season titles, three SEC Tournament championships, and six NCAA Regional titles. Currently leading the program is head coach Scott Stricklin who took over in 2013 after David Perno left for Mercer University. Under Stricklin's leadership, the Bulldogs have become one of college baseball's top programs. In 2020, they finished with an impressive 38-19 record and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time under his tenure.
The 2021 season was even more impressive as they finished with a 47-15 record and advanced to their second straight NCAA Super Regional before falling just short of making it to Omaha for the College World Series. The Bulldogs are led by some of college baseball's top players such as outfielder Tucker Bradley who was named First Team All-SEC last season after hitting .319 with 8 HRs; pitcher Tony Locey who had an impressive 1.88 ERA last year; shortstop Cam Shepherd who hit .304 with 12 HRs; first baseman Mason Meadows who hit .324 with 10 HRs; and catcher Cole Tate who had a .986 fielding percentage last season. As they look ahead to 2024 events, Georgia will be looking to build on their recent success while also continuing to compete at a high level on both offense and defense. With an experienced roster full of talented veterans and promising newcomers alike, there is no doubt that this team will be competitive once again this year as they strive to bring another championship back to Athens.
