The Creighton Bluejays Baseball team has a long and proud history of success. Founded in 1894, the Bluejays have been playing baseball for over a century and have become one of the most successful programs in the country. The team plays its home games at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, located on the Creighton University campus. Over the years, the Bluejays have developed several rivalries with other teams in their conference, including Xavier, Butler, and Seton Hall. The Bluejays have won numerous awards throughout their history, including two Big East Regular Season Championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances. The team also boasts an impressive list of former players who went on to play professionally in Major League Baseball (MLB), including Bob Gibson, Steve Stone, and Kyle Schwarber. Currently leading the program is head coach Ed Servais who took over in 2002 after Gordie Gillespie left for Lewis University. Servais has already made his mark on the program by leading them to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and earning Coach of the Year honors from both Big East Conference and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
The Bluejays are led by some of college baseball's top players such as pitcher Joe Noteware who was named First Team All-Big East last season after pitching to a 3.11 ERA; infielder Ryan Moseley who had a batting average of .338 last season; outfielder Will Robertson who had 11 home runs last season; catcher Zach Hummel who led all hitters with 44 RBIs; and shortstop Jack Strunc who had 35 stolen bases last season. As they look ahead to the 2024 season, Creighton Baseball will be looking to continue its success from recent years while also building on its rich history of excellence. In 2020, for example, the Creighton baseball program had a team GPA of 3.39 with 27 players earning a spot on the Big East All-Academic Team. This commitment to academic excellence is reflected in the team's graduation rates which are among some of the highest in college baseball today. Creighton also takes pride in its community outreach initiatives with many members involved in various service projects throughout Omaha such as volunteering at local food banks and working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those less fortunate than themselves.
