Spyro Gyra is a jazz fusion band from Buffalo, New York. They have been creating music for over four decades and have achieved international success with their unique blend of jazz, funk, and pop. Founded in 1974 by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein and keyboardist Jeremy Wall, Spyro Gyra has released over 30 albums, sold millions of records worldwide, and earned multiple Grammy Award nominations. The band's breakthrough album Catching the Sun was released in 1980 and featured the hit single "Shaker Song". This song became an instant classic and helped to launch the band into mainstream success. Since then, Spyro Gyra has continued to release chart-topping hits such as "Morning Dance" (1979), "Café Amore" (1981), "Incognito" (1982), and "Heart of the Night" (1985). These songs have become staples in the jazz world and are still played regularly on radio stations around the world.
Spyro Gyra has also won numerous awards throughout their career including two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Instrumental Performance ("Morning Dance", 1979) and Best Contemporary Jazz Album ("Wrapped in a Dream", 2001).
