Big Band of Brothers: A Jazz Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band is proudly presented by New West Records in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the release of the Allman Brothers' first album. The songs on this album are authentic large band jazz renditions of Allman Brothers classics. Marc Broussard and Ruthie Foster contribute vocals as guests on the song. Jack Pearson, who has appeared as a guest musician with the Allman Brothers Band multiple times and who actually joined the band in 1997, is also featured on guitar in Big Band of Brothers. He completed the band's classic guitar combo for almost three years with Dickey Betts. Wycliffe Gordon, a well-known soloist from Jazz at Lincoln Center, is also included. The Downbeat critics survey routinely places Gordon among the top trombone players. The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman (slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards, songwriting), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). The band's first two studio albums, The Allman Brothers Band (1969) and Idlewild South (1970), were released to great success. The band reached their commercial peak with the release of Eat a Peach (1972), which included the singles "Ramblin' Man" and "Melissa". The group's 1973 album Brothers and Sisters became their biggest hit, reaching number one on the Billboard 200, and was certified platinum. The band again achieved commercial success with the release of Win, Lose or Draw (1975), which peaked at number five on the Billboard 200. Their 1976 live release Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas reached number 14 on the Billboard 200. The band's final studio album, Seven Turns (1990), was released to moderate success and received mixed reviews. The Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. In 2005, they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. They were ranked number 51 on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". They were ranked number 23 on the 2011 Rolling Stone list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" and were nominated for induction into the 2012 class. The band has been awarded seven gold and four platinum albums, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. Big Band of Brothers tickets are on sale now at Yadara!
