The Districts are a Pennsylvania-based rock group. The group was formed when members Rob Grote, Mark Larson, Connor Jacobus, and Braden Lawrence were still in high school in 2009. They self-released two EPs before signing to Fat Possum Records in 2013. The band's debut album, Telephone, was released in 2014. The band's second album, Popular Mechanics, was released in 2016. The group is currently signed to Epitaph Records.
The Districts are known for their energetic live shows and have toured with acts such as The War on Drugs, Arctic Monkeys, Pixies, and Manchester Orchestra. The band has appeared at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella.
The group's third album, A Flourish, and a Spoil was released in February of 2015. The album was recorded in a converted barn in Pennsylvania and was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions in the Sky).
The band's debut full-length release, Popular Manipulations, was released on June 17, 2016. The album peaked in the top 7 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and top 28 on Top Independent Albums. In August 2017, the group returned with their third full-length album under Fat Possum Records, Popular Manipulations (2016).
The Districts' fourth album, You Know I'm Not Going Anywhere, was released on March 13, 2020. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Shawn Everett (The War on Drugs, Alabama Shakes).
