The 2009-formed Canadian shoegaze/dream-pop duo No Joy is renowned for their hypnotic guitar textures and elaborate, multi-layered soundscapes. In Montreal's underground scene, members Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd started experimenting with reverb-heavy tones by fusing Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine influences. Their signature sound is defined by hypnotic vocals and immersive atmospheres in their early self-produced recordings.
2010 saw the release of No Joy's debut album Ghost Blonde, which received praise from Pitchfork and NME critics. Later albums, such as Motherhood and More Faithful, broadened their appeal abroad and brought them to SXSW and Primavera Sound festivals. Fans enjoy their immersive, multi-sensory performances, and tours in North America and Europe attract 500–2,000 people per show.
With 10–15 tracks and reverb-heavy guitars, looping effects, and synchronized visuals, live sets usually last 75–90 minutes. An intimate yet impactful concert atmosphere is created by the 800–1,500 fans that average venues can accommodate. Yadara is selling No Joy tickets, giving fans the opportunity to take in the duo's immersive live performances and hypnotic dream-pop soundscapes.
