  • Lucy Elizabeth Dacus is an American singer-songwriter and producer who was born on May 2nd, 1995. Dacus's first two albums, Historian (2018) and Boys Girls (2017) were both released to critical acclaim. Dacus has been praised for her honest and introspective songwriting, as well as her unique voice and guitar playing. Dacus was born in Richmond, Virginia, and began writing songs at the age of 15. She self-released her first album, Marie Antoinette, in 2010. After graduating from high school, Dacus attended Virginia Commonwealth University and studied photography. She later dropped out of college to pursue music full-time. In 2016, Dacus released the single "I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore" on Bandcamp. The song caught the attention of Matador Records, who signed her to a record deal. Dacus's debut album, Historian, was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. The album was named one of the best albums of the year by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times. Dacus's second album, "Boys Girls", was released in 2017. The album was produced by John Congleton and features the singles "Night Shift" and "Addictions." Boys Girls was named one of the best albums of the year by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and NPR Music. Dacus has toured with indie rock bands such as The National, Spoon, and Hiss Golden Messenger. She has also appeared on television shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live! In 2019, Dacus collaborated with Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers on the project Boygenius. The trio released an EP of the same name, which was named one of the best albums of the year by Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. Dacus's third album, "Home Video", is set to be released on April 2nd, 2021. The album was produced by John Congleton and features the singles "Hot & Heavy" and "Ginger."
