Paul Van Haver better known by his stage name Stromae, is a Belgian singer-songwriter, rapper, and musician. Raised in Brussels, Stromae studied in the French-speaking school system before going on to study at the Institut national de radioélectricité et de télécommunications (INRACI). He established himself as a talented rapper, producer, and singer with his debut album Cheese, which was certified platinum by the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA) after selling over 50,000 copies. His acclaimed Mosaert label has seen five successful clothing collections released, and he's worked in collaboration with Yael Naïm (Coward), Dua Lipa (IDGAF) and Billie Eilish (Hostage) on their respective videos. In 2009, he combined forces with Luc Van Haver and stylist Coralie Barbier to create the label of artistic expression. Stromae's second album Racine carrée was released in 2013 and includes the hit singles "Formidable", "Tous Les mêmes" and "Papaoutai". The album was certified diamond in Belgium and became one of the best-selling albums of all time in that country. It also charted in a number of European countries, peaking at number two in France and reaching the top ten in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

Stromae is known for his eclectic musical style, which draws from a variety of genres including electronic, hip-hop, pop, and African music. He has also been praised for his creative use of sampling, and often uses old vinyl records and samples from classic songs in his own productions. His lyrics are often based on personal experiences and touch on themes of love, heartbreak, loneliness, death, and depression. Stromae has won numerous awards, including six Victoires de la Musique, two Grammy Awards, and a European Border Breakers Award. In 2013, Stromae was voted "Best Belgian Act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2015, he was named one of "The Most Influential People in Fashion" by Time magazine. Stromae's accolades and accomplishments are vast, with four Victoires de la Musique, four NRJ Awards, one MTV Award to his name.
