Our presentation series, which consists of five distinct performance series, includes All Over the Map, Dance Allsorts, Pop Up Dances, New Works at Night, and our public school outreach program Share Dance. New Works presents inspiring, culturally diverse, and affordable dance performances in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. Artists are welcome to submit suggestions at any time, however they should keep in mind that our season is typically scheduled by the spring before. The project description, video documentation, and a schedule of upcoming performances should all be included in proposals. The long-running, well-liked summer series All Around the Map from New Works showcases dance and music from all over the world. Three Sundays in August include performances between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Granville Island's outdoor stage. These entertaining, one-hour concerts take place at Ron Basford Park and are geared for locals, tourists, and families of all ages. Since 1997, Dance Allsorts has provided audiences with a monthly dance experience from September to June. Each show is expertly produced, diverse, cutting-edge, and suitable for viewers of all ages. Additionally, a one-hour community workshop for people of all ages and skill levels is part of the Dance Allsorts series. The featured artist for that day conducts these workshops right after each performance. Free workshops are available, and they are regularly full. Since 2007, Pop Up Dances have been performed on Granville Island in February as part of the Winterruption Festival. These performances, which last between five and ten minutes, are held on Granville Island in unconventional settings. These dance pieces are displayed by New Works in various stores, galleries, and studio windows in collaboration with island studios and companies. The general public can take in the performing arts in a pleasant and impromptu style for no cost. Professional dancers are invited to inner city elementary schools in Vancouver as part of the Share Dance project for in-class and after-school sessions. Since schools and after-school care programs often have little to no funding for artistic programming, New Works offers these courses free of charge to them. Children can experience new forms of expression and the physical and emotional release that dancing offers in an inclusive setting with Share Dance. The Dance Allsorts program was expanded in 2014 with the introduction of New Works at Night. It offers a variety of lengthier and complete job packages. These evening performances start with the New Works Season Launch and continue two or three times more throughout the season. They are vital creative works to promote and share because they give artists the chance to exhibit work that tackles deeper themes and dancing experiences.
