Derek Bruce Hough is an American professional Latin and ballroom and hip-hop dancer, choreographer, actor, and singer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in London and Denver, Hough is the only son of Marianne and Bruce Hough. His sister, Julianne Hough, is also a professional dancer. He has held titles such as the World Trophy Champion (for Latin American Song & Dance) and International Latin American Champion (for Song & Dance). Derek Hough has appeared on Dancing with the Stars since 2007. He has won a record six times (with Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley, and Bindi Irwin), more than any other professional dancer. He has also choreographed routines for the show. In 2013, he starred in Make Your Move, a Romeo and Juliet-inspired South Korean-American independent film. In 2016, he played Corny Collins in the live-action musical film Hairspray Live.
Not only did he win the award in 2013, but also again in 2018 for World of Dance. In August of 2014, his memoir Taking the Lead; Lessons from a Life in Motion was released to critical acclaim and eventually became an honored presence on both non-consecutive New York Times Best-Seller lists. May 2017 saw the addition of Hough alongside Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo as a judge on NBC's World of Dance. Maynard is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 10,106 at the 2010 census. Maynard includes the villages of Assabet, Mills, and Stow. The town is now served by Interstate 495, as well as Massachusetts Routes 117 and 62, which pass through it. In 1845, the Boston and Worcester Railroad built a railroad line through the area, and in 1866 the Assabet Manufacturing Company built a textile mill beside the tracks.
The mill was later bought by William Maynard, who owned several other mills in the area. The town was named after him when it was incorporated in 1871. The mill continued to operate until 1995 when it closed down and was replaced by office buildings for technology companies. These include Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems, Monster.com, Raytheon, and Akamai Technologies. The Maynard Public Schools includes three schools: Green Meadow Elementary School (PreK-2), Marlborough Street Elementary School (3-5), and Fowler Middle School (6-8). The high school is shared with the neighboring town of Acton as Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. Joining Hough are the two-time Emmy award winners, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo.
