Derrick "D-Nice" Jones, a renowned artist, DJ, and photographer, introduced Club Quarantine on Instagram Live in March 2020, while the entire world paused. Millions were safely brought together by this ground-breaking online club to feel a sense of connection in the midst of worldwide isolation. D-Nice now brings the celebration to Carnegie Hall. Club Quarantine Live continues with a very special guest lineup in this once-in-a-lifetime debut event at the Hall after a sold-out performance at the Hollywood Bowl in August 2021. A celebration of music, life, and love is held at Club Quarantine.
Derrick Jones better known by his stage name D-Nice, is an American disc jockey, beatboxer, rapper, producer, and photographer. He was a member of the hip hop group Boogie Down Productions, with whom he recorded the albums Criminal Minded (1987) and By All Means Necessary (1988).
As a solo artist, D-Nice has released the albums Call Me D-Nice (1990), Checkmate (1992), and The Art of Facts (2000). He has also produced tracks for other artists, including Mariah Carey, Will Smith, and John Legend.
D-Nice's career began in the 1980s as a member of Boogie Down Productions, one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time. The group's debut album, Criminal Minded, is considered a classic of the genre and is credited with helping to pioneer gangsta rap.
After Boogie Down Productions broke up, D-Nice pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album Call Me D-Nice in 1990. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching platinum status and spawning the hit single "Call Me D-Nice".
Club Quarantine Live is the living version of DJ D-Nice's Club Quarantine virtual parties during the COVID-19 pandemic. It started when D-Nice hosted these virtual parties on the social media platform Instagram. Since this was the stay-at-home mandate period during the pandemic, people from all over the globe connected and had a lot of fun at these parties. With its huge success, D-Nice is now taking Club Quarantine on tour for the world to see.
