CamelPhat are an English DJ and production duo, consisting of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, formed in Liverpool in 2004. They have produced several singles, most notably "Cola", which topped the UK dance charts in 2017.
Both Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala worked as DJs at nightclubs in Liverpool when they first met in the record store 3 Beat Records. They began making music together in 2004, and their first release was the track "Vibrations" on the label Funkatech Records.
CamelPhat have released several singles and remixes on a variety of labels, including Skint Records, Dim Mak Records, and Ultra Music. Their most successful single to date is "Cola", which topped the UK dance charts in 2017.
In 2018, CamelPhat won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for their track "Dopamine Machine".
Whelan and Di Scala collaborated to release multiple remixes as The Bassline Hustlers, Men from Mars, and Da Mode. They released the single "Shot Away" (All Around the World, 2006) under the alias "Pawn Shop," which was based on a sample of "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones and reached its peak position of number 100 on the UK Singles Chart. After that, they put out a number of singles under the name Whelan & Di Scala on different record companies, including their own record company, Bachelor Pad Recordings. Additionally, the two DJs released songs under several guises, including Wheels & Disco, Mancini, and Shake n' Jack. Dave Whelan worked as a radio host on Juice FM from 2008 till 2014.
