New Zealand electronic music producer BAYNK launched his career while studying chemical engineering in 2015. After a series of tracks he uploaded to SoundCloud went viral, he quit school to pursue music full-time. In early 2017, BAYNK released his debut EP, Please Rewind, on Majestic Casual Records. The EP was preceded by the single "Says," which has been streamed over 100 million times on Spotify.
He co-wrote the 2016 hit "What You Need" with vocalist NKA, which has received tens of millions of streams. "I hate u, I love u" by Gnash and Olivia O'Brien was officially remixed by BAYNK in 2016; the original track has received over one billion streams.
BAYNK's music has been described as "chill-wave" and "future-bass." He often uses elements of R&B and hip-hop in his productions. His debut album, The Fire, was released in 2018.
It featured the singles "What You Need" and "Be in Love."
In 2019, BAYNK collaborated with American singer-songwriter Gnash on the single "Home." The song peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.
BAYNK has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He has performed at major music festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo.
