Andy C is a British DJ and record producer who co-founded RAM Records, one of the first labels to specialize in drum and bass music. He gained popularity as a DJ after releasing "Valley of the Shadows," an early track that blended elements of hardcore and drum and bass just as those genres were starting to diverge. The track, created and released by Origin Unknown (Andy C and Ant Miles), is commonly referred to as "31 Seconds" or "Long Dark Tunnel." It utilized a heavy bassline, bell samples, and a rolling drum track that produced an easy-to-recognize melody. The prominence of the track specifically at raves across made it the UK one of the more favorite songs played on dance floors. Andy C's track " AWOL" was originally released as an EP in 1993, but has been remixed and re-released several times since then. It is widely recognized as one of the most influential drum and bass tunes of the early 90s.
