About The Damned

The Damned is an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976. The original members were lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. The Damned was the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single ("New Rose", 1976), an album (Damned Damned The Damned 1977), and tour the United States. Additionally, they have nine singles that are charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. After the release of the second The Damned album, Music for Pleasure (1977), which was met with poor reviews, the band broke up briefly. The band's reunion resulted in the amazing album with hit The Damned songs "Love Song" and the iconic "Smash It Up." They reformed soon after without Brian James and released Machine Gun Etiquette (1979).

In the 1980s, The Damned band released four studio albums: The Black Album (1980), Strawberries (1982), Phantasmagoria (1985), and Anything (1986). These records saw The Damned band transitioning to a gothic rock style. After Captain Sensible left in 1984, he was not featured on the latter two albums. James and Sensible rejoined in 1988 to play a series of reunion gigs, one of which was released as the The Damned live album Final Damnation (1989). Due to their punk rock songs being based on speed, they have been given credit for impacting and developing the hardcore punk subgenre in the late 1970s to early 1980s in both Britain and America. During their tours, they performed "I Just Can't Be Happy Today", "Love Song", "New Rose", and many other classics.

The Damned band will perform as the headlining act in Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane in 2024, marking their first tour to Australia since 2017. The Damned, which still includes guitarist Captain Sensible and frontman Dave Vanian, will release their first studio album in five years, titled "Darkadelic," next month. The album leans towards the band's gothic and psychedelic themes. Dear fans... experience all that is deep, dark, Damned, and Darkadelic. The band has released two album singles: "The Invisible Man" and "Beware Of The Clown." Their new album, "Darkadelic," will be available this 2024.
