Mt. Joy is a five-piece indie folk-rocker band from Los Angeles with roots in Philadelphia. High school friends Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), Jackie Miclau (keyboards), and Michael Byrnes bass) make up the group. They met in college and released their first EP, titled "A Balloon Called Moaning," in 2016. The band's sound has been described as a mix of 60s pop, 70s classic rock, and 80s college rock. The band's debut album, "Ashes & Fire," was released in October 2018. The album was met with critical acclaim, with many reviewers praising the band's songwriting and Quinn's vocals. The album features singles like "Silver Lining," which was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered, and "Ain't No Trouble," which was named one of the best songs of 2018 by Paste Magazine. In 2020, Mt. Joy released their second album, titled "Rearrange Us." The album is filled with upbeat pop hooks and sing-along choruses, with a lyrical focus on self-reflection and growth.
