Wolf Alice are an English alternative rock band from London, England. The group was formed in 2010 by lead singer and guitarist Ellie Rowsell, bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey. The band released their debut extended play (EP), Blush, in 2013. Their first album, My Love Is Cool, was released on 2 June 2015 in the United States and on 19 June 2015 in the United Kingdom.
The band's music has been described as "a feral combination of grunge, punk and surf rock." Wolf Alice have been nominated for three Brit Awards, winning Best British Group in 2019. They have also won two NME Awards, and were named the BBC's Sound of 2015. My Love Is Cool debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and number 35 on the US Billboard 200, while single "Moaning Lisa Smile" peaked at number 32 on the US Alternative Songs chart.
The band's second album, Visions of a Life, was released on 29 September 2017. It debuted at number two in the UK and number 16 in the US. The first single from the album, "Yuk Foo", was released on 15 August 2017. The second single, "Don't Delete the Kisses", was released on 21 September 2017.
On 6 December 2018, Wolf Alice released the single "The Last Man on Earth" as part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 soundtrack.
On 6 May 2020, Wolf Alice released the single "Safe from Heartbreak (if you never fall in love)" with an accompanying animated music video. The song was written by frontman Ellie Rowsell and is about feeling okay after a break-up. It was released as part of the soundtrack for the third series of British TV show Sex Education.
On 28 May 2020, it was announced that Wolf Alice would headline the first night of Reading and Leeds Festivals on 27 August 2021.
