Travis is a British rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 1990. The band consists of Fran Healy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dougie Payne (bass guitar, backing vocals), Andy Dunlop (lead guitar, banjo, mandolin) and Neil Primrose (drums, percussion). They have released nine studio albums, their most recent being Everything at Once (2016). The band's name comes from the Harry Dean Stanton character Travis Henderson from the film Paris, Texas.
The members of Travis met at school in Glasgow and began playing together as a band called Glass Onion, named after The Beatles song of the same name. Healy and Primrose became friends when they were both 11 years old. They played football together at school and Healy supported Primrose's team, Rangers. Payne had seen Healy play a gig with Glass Onion and asked him to join Travis. In 1994, they released their first EP, All I Wanna Do Is Rock. This was followed by their debut album, Good Feeling, in August 1997. The album was a commercial success, reaching number three on the UK charts.
The band's second album, The Man Who, was released in May 1999. It reached number one on the UK charts and became the ninth best-selling album of 1999 in the UK. The singles "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?" and "Driftwood" were both top ten hits in the UK. In 2001, the band released their third album, The Invisible Band. The album was another commercial success, reaching number one on the UK charts. The singles "Sing" and "Side" were both top ten hits in the UK. In 2003, the band released their fourth album, 12 Memories. The album was another commercial success, reaching number two on the UK charts. The singles "Re-Offender" and "Love Will Come Through" were both top ten hits in the UK.
