The Spill Canvas is an American alternative rock band based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 2004, followed by Formaldehyde in 2006 and Denial Feels So Good later that year. In 2007, the band signed with Sire Records and released their fourth album, No Really, I'm Fine.
In May 2003, The Spill Canvas independently released Concept EP, a five-song CD that was recorded in Sioux Falls' Cathouse Studios. The EP was successful in the Sioux Falls area, and helped the band to secure a record deal with Gusto Records later that year. The Spill Canvas' self-titled debut album was released on June 15, 2004. The album's first single, "All Over You", received airplay on local radio stations.
The band's second album, Formaldehyde, was released on April 4, 2006. The album's first single, "The Truth", received airplay on alternative rock radio stations across the United States. The album peaked at number 21 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.
On October 31, 2006, The Spill Canvas released Denial Feels So Good, a three-song EP. The EP's lead single, "Connect the Dots", received airplay on alternative rock radio stations.
In 2007, The Spill Canvas signed with Sire Records, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group. The band's major label debut album, No Really, I'm Fine, was released on July 10, 2007. The album's first single, "The Tide", was a top 40 hit on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
On October 7, 2008, The Spill Canvas released their fifth album, We Are The Figment of Our Own Imagination. The album's first single, "Save Drowning Me", received airplay on alternative rock radio stations.
On May 4, 2017, The Spill Canvas gave a performance at Webster Hall as part of the Emo Nite LA NYC festival.
Prior to Hivemind's release on July 20, 2018, the band was on tour with Punchline and Selfish Things in support of their new EP.
The group declared in January 2021 that their upcoming album, "Conduit," will be released on March 5, 2021, by Pure Noise Records.
