Silversun Pickups is an American alt-rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2002 by singer/guitarist Brian Aubert, bassist Nikki Monninger, keyboard player Joe Lester and drummer Chris Guanlao, Silversun Pickups have since released four acclaimed albums and achieved immense success as a touring act. Along the way, they've won awards from MTV and had their songs featured on popular television shows including Grey’s Anatomy. The band has also released three EPs over the years: 2008’s “Future Foe Scenarios”, 2014’s acoustic covers collection “Live Session”, and 2016’s “Seaside Sounds Vol 1 & 2".
Throughout their career, Silversun Pickups have maintained an extensive touring schedule, performing at festivals across the country such as SXSW, Lollapalooza, and Coachella as well as selling out venues around the world. They have been featured on several major tours including Summer Sonic Festival in Japan (2007), Warped Tour (2008), North By North West Music Festival (2009), and more recently Austin City Limits (2016). Silversun Pickups have brought home a handful of awards over their tenure too. In 2007 they were nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards for best new artist video and best alternative video for their single “Lazy Eye” while in 2011 they won a BMI Award for most performed song for “Panic Switch". They were also honored as iTunes Best New Artist 2009 alongside Passion Pit and Mumford & Sons.
